Our Product Pick – Be Natural “FOUR”

A healthy low kilojoule snack for morning or afternoon tea should ideally have less than 600 kJ, be high in fibre, low GI, low in fat, sugar and salt, and high in protein to help satisfy the appetite.  Ideally the food should contain mainly natural ingredients with minimal additives and preservatives, and preferably no artificial sweeteners.  Plus it should taste delicious and help satisfy the appetite!

This is a tall order… so our super-sleuth Dietitians have been out in force scanning supermarkets to see which food products fit the bill.

Obviously fresh fruit and fresh vegetables make the perfect snack food but every now and then it is nice to have something different.

We came across a snack bar that is a winner and meets all the criteria above.  It is called Be Natural “FOUR” and it comes in two flavours.

Currant, berry, oats and pepita (580 kJ)

Apricot, coconut, oats and chia (610 kJ)

We hope the company brings out some more flavours in the future but for now we are happy to promote these bars to help you when you need a healthy tasty snack.

Sweet Poison by David Gillespie

Sweet Poison

This book was written after the author claims to have shed 40kgs without dieting or exercising. Gillespie says all he did to loose the weight was cut all the fructose from his diet. Fructose is a monosaccharide (a single unit of sugar) which is found in many foods including fruits, honey, chocolate and breakfast cereals.
