Vita-Weat Sandwich Size Crispbreads

Arnott’s have recently brought out a new Sandwich Size Vita-Weat crispbread. These are a great size to use for lunch, and they make a great alternative to regular bread. There are 4 different flavours:

  • Poppy, Sunflower and Rye
  • Sunflower, Pumpkin and Canola
  • Sunflower, Oats and Chia
  • Soy, Linseed and Sesame

The nutritional information for one sandwich size crispbread is:

Energy . . . . . 78 cal (326KJ)
Fat . . . 2.0g
Carbohydrate . . . 11.0g
Sugars . . . 1.2g
Protein . . . 2.6g
Sodium . . . 90g
Fibre . . . 2.2g

As a comparison, 1 average thin slice of wholemeal bread has:

Energy . . . . . 71 cal (298KJ)
Fat . . . 1.0g
Carbohydrate . . . 13.0g
Sugars . . . 1.0g
Protein . . . 2.6g
Sodium . . . 143g
Fibre . . . 2.0g

As you can see, the Vita-Weat sandwich size crispbreads are very comparable in nutrient composition to wholemeal bread. Therefore they are a good substitute for people who like to have a bit of variety in their diet, or for those who need a change from sandwiches. Serving suggestions could include toppings like tomato, cucumber, lean roast beef, sliced chicken, smoked salmon. Use healthy spreads such as hummous, pesto or avocado rather than butter, margarine or mayonnaise.
