Why we wrote “The Good Enough Diet”

The Good Enough Diet is a book that will revolutionise how we look at diets and dieting. Tara Diversi and Dr Adam Fraser wrote this book for three reasons.

Firstly we have found that the strictest dieters have the worst results long term. The best way to approach weight loss is forget being perfect, just be good enough. Trying to be great is the nemesis to being great. Put another way, the more strict you are on the diet the fatter you get. Strict diets are making you fat! The diet industry is a joke. What other industry can get away with such poor results. Ninety eight percent of dieters put the weight back on. If ninety eight percent of people were poorer after seeing a financial planner, we would not tolerate that. So why do we tolerate such failure from this industry?

The second reason we wrote this book is that we found that most people were miserable because they were trying to be perfect in every area of their life. The perfect parent, perfect worker, and the perfect lifestyle. All this did was create a huge amount of guilt for them. The Good Enough Diet is about realising that health is only one part of your life and if you strive to be perfect in this area other parts of your life suffer and your overall wellbeing will decline. We believe that you can have great health and a great body by just being Good Enough. Constant dieting and the never-ending pursuit of being skinny has become a normal and accepted behavior among people in Western society. This mindset leads to misery. We wrote this book to fight against this mindset.

Finally if you want to lose weight, because we are all busy you need to do things that are going to give you the biggest bang for your buck. So we have compiled a list of the things that will get you the greatest result for the energy you put in. You will learn why less variety in your diet will help you lose weight, why taking the stairs can make you fat and why some people need to go back to three meals a day.
